Journey Overview
Grangetown is an inner-city district 0f 20,000 people in the city of Cardiff, South Wales. It is the most culturally diverse district in all of Wales. There are people from Pakistani and Indian origin in Asia, people whose family background is Sudan and Yemen together with more recent immigrants from the Middle East, and people from an Eastern European background. You can find individuals from over 100 different nations living in Grangetown which is in addition to those from a white British background, including a number whose first language is Welsh. By in large they all live together in relative harmony, but the vast majority of them do not know the joy of a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Our goal is to create opportunities for spiritual conversations, provide a clear presentation of the gospel, and see new people come to know Jesus.
We warmly invite you to join us in this mission to make a lasting impact in Grangetown.
Please plan to arrive in Cardiff by 3:00 PM on the first day of the outreach. This ensures that everyone has enough time to settle in and participate in the team's orientation and first activities.
The outreach concludes on 8th June, after attending the Church Service and the farewell lunch. You are welcome to arrange your departure for later that afternoon. Individuals applying must be 18 or over.
If you live in the UK, you can use this link to apply now https://fs7.formsite.com/OperationMobilisation/STM_APL/form_login.html
As part of our Safeguarding policy, you may require a valid enhanced DBS certificate, which may cost up to an additional £30.
What To Expect
Grace Church is a relatively new church planted 7 years ago. The church has a heart to bring the gospel to people of all the ethnic, national and religious backgrounds in the community. We have been working hard to share Jesus in many ways during this time and have been led to organise a special week of mission in the area called ‘Encounters’.
The team will be helping Grace Church and other participating churches in the area as part of the ‘Encounters’ mission week. The team will be out and about on the streets and visiting homes sharing how Jesus has made a difference in their life and what he can do for the people they will meet. The team will also be helping out with several special ‘Encounters’ events where the gospel will be shared by guest speakers. Our goal is that during the week the good news of Jesus will be shared often and it will be shared well and that as a result we will see some new people in Grangetown come to know Jesus. We welcome you to join us.
