Safiye, a young teenager from Azerbaijan, went to OM's winter camp in 2024. There she had a dream about Jesus and received a special calling.
In January 2024, OM hosted a winter camp for teenagers in Azerbaijan. At it, the ministry leaders shared about Gladys Aylward, a missionary who went to China in the 1900s and ministered to many children. Then, they all prayed for the unreached people groups of Azerbaijan and the surrounding Caucasus region.
That night, one of the teenagers, Safiye,* had a dream. She saw Gladys Aylward, who said to her: “You will be with me.” In her dream, Gladys looked young — even though she had been in her late 60s when she had passed away. Then Gladys said: “Look at Jesus.” He was sitting on the chair in the room where they had been praying earlier that day.
Safiye shared her dream with the leaders. She was excited by it, but she was unsure what it meant. The leaders told her that they believe Jesus is calling her to share His good news with others.
Later, when they visited Safiye in her hometown, she placed her faith in Jesus. Although she had already been reading the New Testament, had watched the Jesus Film five times and had prayed to Jesus earlier, she shared that she had never repented. That day, however, she wanted to repent and follow Jesus. The leaders immediately led her in a prayer of repentance and celebrated her new faith.
Although she is only 12 years old, Safiye serves with OM. This Christian community is especially important for Safiye since in her family, only her mother and brother are believers. Through OM’s ministry, Safiye is being discipled, and she is being taught to share her faith and disciple others — a skill that she will need to fulfill the calling that God has placed on her life.
