Curaçao is an island country in the southern Caribbean Sea about 65 km (40 miles) north of Venezuela. Curaçao includes the main island of Curaçao and the smaller, uninhabited island of Klein Curaçao ("Little Curaçao"). Curaçao has a population of approx. 159,000, its capital is Willemstad. It is a is a constituent island country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Together with Aruba and Bonaire, Curaçao forms the ABC islands. It is the largest of the ABC islands in terms of area and population, as well as the largest in the Dutch Caribbean.
Curaçao’s most important industry sectors are tourism, shipping services, oil refining and storage, and international trade and financial services. Ethnic groups consist of: Curacaoan 75 per cent, Dutchsix per cent, Dominican four per cent, Colombian three per cent, Bonairean, Sint Eustatian, Saban two per cent, Haitian one per cent, Surinamese one per cent, Venezuelan one per cent, Aruban one per cent, other six per cent. Papiamento is the main language (a creole language that is a mixture of Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, English, and French).
OM’s passion is to mobilise churches and believers to reach the nations for Jesus, partnering with local churches to inspire and equip people for mission work. We provide opportunities for believers to participate in both short and long-term mission outreaches, locally and internationally.
